Stamp duty holiday conclusion and discussion
On Wednesday 14 July at 2pm, we'll be revealing the results of an academic study into the stamp duty holiday, in conjunction with London School of Economics (LSE).
The study sets out to investigate the impact of the holiday on the housing market, with a particular focus on;
- To what extent does moving house generate additional economic activity?
- Has the stamp duty holiday been worthwhile for the economy (despite possibly increasing house prices)?
- Is there a case for maintaining the stamp duty exemption at £500,000 or other more radical reforms?
I'd like to invite you to the launch of the report when I will be joined by Professor Tony Travers (Director, LSE London) and Professor Christine Whitehead (Emeritus Professor of Housing Economics, LSE London) who will be expanding on the report's key findings.
- Date & Time: Wednesday 14 July at 2pm.
- Zoom link: https://lse.zoom.us/j/81177741247 (no password required)
On the day, there will be a Q&A at the end of the meeting and we will be welcoming questions from our attendees. The report will be made available on our website from Wednesday 14 July.
